Happy Pancake Day!
What's that you say? It's Mardi Gras? Well, you are correct there. But, it is also Pancake Day as well.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Shrove Tuesday (the day before Ash Wednesday each year) is more commonly known as Pancake Tuesday or Pancake Day. This is because pancakes were a way to use up rich foodstuffs such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent.
In London, there are even pancake races which challenge you to make it to the finish line while flipping a pancake in a frying pan a certain amount of times without dropping it!
So, whether you're just a fan of breakfast for dinner, or you're celebrating the holiday along with our English speaking friends across the Atlantic- whip up your favorite pancake recipe and enjoy!
