Our Feet Are Made for Walking!
June 25, 2012
And that’s just what we’ll do! We’re into the last week of MCPL’s summer wellness initiative. A while ago, I blogged about our walking challenge. It’s hard to believe that eight weeks and miles and miles of walking have already gone by. Here’s how your Kearney Branch staff stepped up to the challenge.
All types of exercise counted: bicycling, jogging, anything that worked up a good, honest sweat. We used a complicated chart to convert exercise minutes into walking distance. As of today, Kearney’s 19 participants have exercised for an average of 107 miles each! We could have taken a stroll all the way to Falls City, Nebraska! Who wouldn’t want to walk there?!
Our combined total to date is 2040 miles! That’s like our team walked a relay race from Kearney to Vancouver, Washington! And, we’re not done walking yet! Come in and cheer us on and share your own summer exercise triumphs. We’d love to give your sweaty back a pat, too.
