It seems like we wait forever for that one special time of year, and before we know it, it's gone until the next time. No, I'm not talking about Christmas. I'm talking about the Oscars. We're all interested on some level, whether we really want to know what films or actors will take home the glory, or we really just want to see what everyone is wearing. Some of us fill out ballots at home, some of us watch avidly to see if our predictions were correct, and some of us don't care about the outcome and would rather have a really good reason to gather together with good food.
I have to admit to a certain level of Oscars Fever this year. I filled out my home ballot, watched some of the red carpet coverage, and managed to stay awake until the very end (I got 10 out of 24 categories, by the way). I find myself carrying it a bit further, though. On my way to work this morning, I was making up my own lists. Best morning drive song, best supporting morning drive song, best car in the parking lot, etc. I'm sure this will wear off eventually, but for now, I find myself highly amused by it.
If you're like me, though, you didn't actually get to see a lot of the things on which we were voting. So, be sure to get on the waiting list for the awesome movie nominations like The King's Speech, Black Swan, The Social Network, and Toy Story 3 (to name a few of the 10 Best Picture nominees). It doesn't take much to get on the list- and remember, if you don't mind waiting for a bit to get the movies, it's even cheaper than Redbox.
