Olympic Party-Time!
July 24, 2012
The Olympics are coming to England. I couldn’t be more excited, and I’m sure I am not alone.
If one were to plan a party for them, now would be the time.
What would you place on your menu? Sure, you could default to the English stand-by of fish and chips, or maybe you want to try your hand at tea. Beware the clotted cream. I may enjoy it, but it isn’t for all.
Why not be bold and plan a fusion menu for your Olympics celebration? You know Greece is not only the birthplace of the games, but also of Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, a.k.a the Queen’s Consort. Between the two countries, there is the shared history: the odd royal or two, and also a bit of a culinary overlap. Why not continue mixing the two cultures? To that end, ask the grocer for lamb. It’s as popular in both countries as the games themselves.
I think individual shepherd’s pie alongside a big Greek spread of moussaka sounds outstanding, but I would challenge you to find your own combination. Bring in the olives and feta, but remember to enjoy the English ales and Ouzo in moderation.

Let the games begin!
