Old Saint Nick
November 30, 2011
Do you know the story behind the real Santa? Back in the 4th century A.D., a man called Nicholas lived in the country of Greece. He gave up all his worldly possessions and devoted his life to helping the needy. Nick would throw coins at the windows of poor families, and children hung their stockings hoping to catch something. The Santa we know grew out of the legend of Saint Nick.
To honor the spirit of generosity he began, we'll put out our stockings December 6th and hope he comes by to drop something in. Here's hoping you get a Christmas orange and not a lump of coal!
