Oh, No! I Forgot My Library Card!
July 31, 2012
No problem, if you have the MCPL app! The new library app for smartphones has a self-check option, which allows you to check out items without your card. Type in your card number, align the barcode under the scanner, and you’re done. If you don’t have your card number memorized, type it into the notes app, phone contacts, or another helpful app. Or, if you also have the OverDrive App on your phone, it’s possible to save your card number to the device so you don’t have to type it in but once.
To use the app for checkout, click on the MCPL app, scroll down to self-check, and activate the built-in MCPL scanner by clicking on the green bar. Align the barcode under the scanner bar and a short beep indicates a successful checkout. You can scan multiple book barcodes to complete the checkout.
The new MCPL app has several features to investigate, so don’t forget to try the new self-check option. Even if you don’t forget your Library card, it can save you time.
And always, if you have problems with your self-check out or any of the app features, please don’t hesitate to ask any of our librarians for help.
