Octoberfest In Smithville

Hey everyone! It’s time again for Smithville's Octoberfest. It looks like it’s going to be a great festival this year with fun events and contests for all ages. The festival will be October 12 & 13th, with the Preliminary Miss Blue Jeans Pageant competition on Thursday, October 11th in the downtown courtyard from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. MCPL will be sponsoring the Mad Science performance, which will be held in the courtyard from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on Saturday October 13th. Come on out and see this fun family program. The Library book cart drill team will be walking in the parade again, so come out and cheer them on as they amaze you with their twirling carts.

If you want to participate in one of the many contests going on this year, stop by the Smithville Branch for an entry form. The festival has a long list of events: baking contest, hot dog eating contest, Dancing with the Smithville Stars, and one of my personal favorites, the hog calling contest. These are just a few of the great things happening this year. The movie showing for this year's Movie in the Courtyard will be Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The movie will play at 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 12th in the downtown courtyard.
