November Sky: Stellar Gaming As Far As the Eye Can See
November 11, 2011
November 11th saw the release of Skyrim, the 5th installment in The Elder Scrolls series. The long-awaited Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword comes out November 20th. And while Skywalker might not be around yet, Bioware’s MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, which hits shelves on December 20th, creates a Star Wars universe that is sure to take your breath away. Which mythos tickles your fancy? Dragons? The Hero’s Journey? An epic cosmic battle pitting good against evil?
As for me, I’ve been looking forward to a new title in the Zelda franchise since finishing Twilight Princess. I went back and beat Link’s Awakening (yet again). I also made my way through the fabulous Ocarina of Time for the 5th or 6th time. I’m ready for a new adventure. There is plenty of "leaked" material out there. I avoid it. I want the experience of playing Skyward Sword to be fresh and awe-inspiring. And the independent reviews I’ve read tell me that it’s going to be an instant classic. They’ve perfected Wii technology, and this installment was made specifically for the Wii. Do you enjoy sneak peeks or do you avoid them?
You might be thinking to yourself, "What does this have to do with the library?" While we don't carry video games at the moment, there's no guarantee that we won't in the future. We want to respond to your needs. You can let MCPL's director know your thoughts here.
And check out a Star Wars novel or a strategy guide in the meantime. Don't see what you're looking for? See a friendly library associate about ordering from another library system or filling out a request for purchase.
Happy Gaming!
