A Note about Inclement Weather and Program Cancellations
February 27, 2013
Let's talk about programs and when they get cancelled because of inclement weather conditions.
It's my hope that this post will stop any more snow from falling this winter.
Yeah, right. So let's continue, shall we?
There's three ways a program can be cancelled because of weather here at the Kearney Branch.
First, presenters can decide they don't want to venture out in the bad weather and cancel their programs. If that happens, someone from our branch will call as soon as possible to let you know of the cancellation. This is if we have your name because you registered for the program.
Second, if the schools in the area close due to inclement weather, that's Kearney R-1 in our case, library programs throughout the day and into the evening will be cancelled. While we won't call about storytimes or any other program that doesn't require registration, we will call patrons who have registered for programs that day.
Third, if the Library is closed because of weather conditions, all the programs that day will be cancelled, too. If we are able, we will call patrons about cancelled programs.
You are always welcome to call us if you have any questions about a program's status. You can also visit our Facebook page for updates on late starts, cancellations, and closings.
