North Platte Junior High Book Club
August 23, 2010
A few days ago, I listed the titles for the High School Book Club. This week, I'd like to share what we have in store for the Junior High Teen Book Club. I found out that our group from last year, made it into the yearbook. This year should be even more fun, so watch for pictures! Right now this is what we have to look forward to:
- When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
- The True Meaning of Smekday by Adma Rex and Bahni Turpin
- Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix
- The Golden Dream of Carlo Chuchio by Lloyd Alexander
- The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin
- The Mysterious Case of the Allbright Academy by Diane Stanley
- Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan
- The Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt
- Zen and the Art of Faking It by Jordan Sonneblick
These are our backup titles.
- Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh
- Redwall by Brian Jacques
- The Dragonfly Pool by Eva Ibbotson
- Holes by Louis Sachar
I am looking forward to our reading list this year. The book club is about reading for pleasure; there is no pressure to like any of the books on the list. Actually, some of the best discussions are about books you don't like! What we would like to do is introduce some new (or old) titles and find out why we do or do not like them. Join us and be part of the discovery.
