No Escape!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month
With America's youth facing what is being called a "bullying epidemic," Anderson Cooper will recognize October's Bullying Prevention Month with a special one-hour TV town hall entitled, "Bullying: No Escape; an AC 360 Special Report with People Magazine and Cartoon Network." The show is scheduled to air Friday, October 8th at 10:00 P.M. ET on CNN. Dr. Phil McGraw and Rosalind Wiseman, author, will be discussing the bullying problem kid's face, and what we can do to stop it.
People magazine will also run a special report in its October 18 issue, which hits newsstands on October 8. Another good source is the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website "Stop Bullying Now" that will appeal to kids as well as adults.
Here is a partial list of Young Adult novels that fight bullying. (By the way, the Young Adult books are good adult reads as well.)
- The Sweetheart of Prosper County by Jill Alexander
- Speak by Lauri Halse Anderson
- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
- The Dark Days of Hamburger Halpin, by Josh Berk
- Hate List by Jennifer Brown
- Stuck on Earth by David Klass
