No Commercial TV

September 06, 2012

This is a dangerous blog. The ad men may come and visit me for letting this secret out. But, dog gone it. For you, I’m going to risk it.

I have been watching entire seasons of television, commercial free. That’s right. Com…mer…cial free. No, I haven’t been drinking on the job. This is real, and I’m going to tell you how.

Three letters: D-V-D. There it is! Get an entire season of shows on DVD here at the Library, and say good bye to all the "plop plop fizz fizz" messages that can be so irritating. And guess what, you save on average 20 minutes of your time on what would be a one hour program. More time to read my blogs.

Here’s what I’ve been watching:

  • Breaking Bad
  • Heroes
  • The Walking Dead (Don't miss the graphic novels too!)
  • Bones
  • NCIS
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • The Big Band Theory

Then, there are those shows on paid TV that I get to watch:

  • The Wire
  • Spartacus, Gods of the Arena
  • Treme
  • Game of Thrones
  • The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency

Unlike most people, I didn’t watch any of these shows while they were on TV, I waited for the DVD.

Enjoy your new commercial free life, and if I go missing, it was the ad men. Or maybe, I’m just watching Mad Men.
