I recently finished reading Marisha Pessl’s novel, Night Film. This thriller centers on Scott McGrath, an investigative journalist who’s looking into the death of Ashley Cordova. Ashley, the 24-year-old daughter of the mysterious and infamous cult film director Stanislas Cordova, has apparently committed suicide in an abandoned warehouse. McGrath had investigated Cordova about five years before, believing the film director was into something illicit. This proved to be a humiliating mistake for McGrath. Now with the death of Ashley, he’s determined to try again to unlock the mystery behind Cordova and his films. He believes there’s more to the story then a cut-and-dry suicide, and he sets out to find the truth. He retraces her steps from the last weeks of her life and meets some interesting, and sometimes dangerous, people along the way.
This book was definitely a page turner, and it kept me guessing to the end.
