Newspapers Always Online
March 30, 2012
Did you know that in addition to our print copies of newspapers here at MCPL, we also have several archives online that you can access? Just check under the Newspapers section of our Research Databases! There you will find digital copies of every Kansas City Star article from 1991 through today. A full facsimile version of today's Kansas City Star is also available through the Kansas City Star Electronic Image Edition. Full text copies of New York Times articles from 1980 through today are available (which is great if you're like me and have already read your monthly online quota and can't afford their new digital subscription). Library PressDisplay provides full-image digital copies of hundreds of papers from around the world; catch up on today's Los Angeles Times, Brasil Economico, or Mainichi Shimbun. There are even historical newspaper collections dating as far back as the 18th century.
You can view all of these online collections from home with a valid library card, call us at 816.630.6721, or come into the branch and a friendly staff member will help you navigate these resources. Happy Reading!
