New North Independence Branch Opens December 20
November 23, 2010
The completely renovated North Independence Branch at 317 West 24 Highway will reopen Monday, December 20. In preparation for the reopening, the temporary North Independence Branch will close on December 6. The new library will be the largest in the MCPL system and feature many new services and amenities.
The new library has study rooms, a computer lab, a dedicated meeting space and a new reference area. For children, there is a brand new children's wing that includes a storytime room. Teens also have their own space in the library perfect for studying or just hanging out with a good read.
The entire library features displays and artifacts from "The Working History of Independence". All of these displays honor the jobs and work of the people that have called the North Independence Branch home over its history. Some of the displays are still in development, but there will certainly be much to see opening week.
Also coming soon will be a small bistro serving soups, sandwiches and coffee. With all of its features, the new North Independence Branch is sure to be a destination for library users. We hope to see you there.
