New At MCPL: Red Rocket Readers
September 01, 2010
One of the most important roles of librarians, and teachers is to get children interested in reading. The key to getting children to read is to give them interesting books that are appropriate to their individual reading ability. Red Rocket Readers were developed by New Zealand reading specialist Pam Holden to give children a “flying start” into literacy.
The series offers both fiction and non fiction titles, and are sorted into easy to identify reading levels. The books are ideal for parents who want to be sure the books they pick are appropriate for their child’s grade and/or reading level so they can practice at home.
The most exciting thing about this series is that when your child has a book in their hands that they can read, their confidence level will soar, and that is the first step to developing a life long love of reading in your child.
