Needles on the Nightstand
January 06, 2011
D'oh! The holidays are over. What did I do? What did I accomplish?
I spent time with family. (I hope you did, too.) And, I knitted.
That brings me around to what's on my nightstand. Vogue Knitting has published a series of small books for those who knit and crochet. The series includes books for projects such as scarves, shawls, baby clothes, toys, and knitted gifts. I have Vogue Knitting's Felting and Scarves (separate titles) on my nightstand. After I finish a black loop scarf for my daughter, I plan to knit a wool scarf and to "felt" it--that is, to wash the wool in hot water until the fibers shrink and lock together into a fabric that can even be cut into shapes or strips. Felting has been popular the last few years, but I'm just getting around to it.
I've knitted many scarves, and as they are popular items this year, (more so than in other years I can remember) I'm excited about knitting and felting one! I have to finish the scarf for my daughter first, because, well, finishing projects is a good thing. If you knit, you know what I mean. But, I have to hurry because I'm ready to learn something NEW!
Where have you heard that before?
Check out the Vogue Knitting series for do-able projects, and thanks for reading.
