National Novel Writing Month

October 24, 2011

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing on November 1st with a goal of writing 50,000 new words of fiction by midnight on November 30. The goal for this crazy month is quantity over quality, though, you will be surprised just how good a story you can mash out in your spare time.

The library is a great place to write your novel. All MCPL branches welcome you to bring in your laptop or notepad and pound out some word count on your own. Also, there a number of branches hosting Write-Ins. Write-Ins are events where your fellow writers get together and spur each other on toward 50K. The library provides snacks, liquid novel fuel (coffee), and some exercises to help get the creative juices flowing.

November writing month

Submitted by Anonymous on November 17, 2011 - 12:31pm.

I wish I had seen this before today. I would have taken part in this program. I am a closet writer and this is right up my alley. I have a short book of poems and prose that I would love to have published. I love to put words on a page as the fly from my mind. I also have a book that I have been writing for several years that I am trying to think of a way to end it. I have over a hundred pages written.

Hi! I wish I could be there, but we're living overseas right now. Don't worry, I'm still taking part in this!

I'm alwaysbusymama if you want to add me as a writing buddy.

Don't forget us teens!! A write-in at the library for one or two hours with snacks would be great.
