National Clean Off Your Desk Day

I know what you are thinking…I don’t need a special day to clean off my desk. But take a look. Is your desk clean and clear of clutter? I know mine isn't. I have trouble finding a writing instrument, let alone a piece of scrap paper. So, I do need a day.

Yeah….According to Chase’s Calendar of Events, January 14 is National Clean-Off-Your-Desk day. It comes around every year on the second Monday of January. So now I have a day; I can mark it on my calendar. I can (and will) clean off my desk. I will clear the clutter and put stuff where it should be. I will dust…wow; maybe I will be able to see the wood again.

You may be asking how long my desk will stay clean. I have an answer to that question. Until my children arrive home from school at 3:20 p.m.! Someone should come up with a day for kids to stay out their parents stuff day!

A little research on the subject of 5S office would give some insight to how to clean your desk space. Sort, Shine, Set in Order, Standardize, and Sustain.

This could definately be a monthly...or even a weekly event. I think I am just going to try to clean off my desk every Monday, then maybe it won't pile up.

Thanks for mentioning this! However, could you do another blog next year maybe on January 7th so I have time to see it and put it on my calendar!

Actually, maybe we should make this a monthly event...junk mail piles up so fast...
