I have been a huge fan of NASCAR for years now, so I was very excited when Kansas Speedway was built. Next year the speedway will be getting a second Sprint Cup race. How awesome is that? Starting in 2011, Kansas Speedway will be hosting a race in June and in October. The speedway will be equipped with lights by then, so hopefully one will be a night race.
After being a fan for so many years, I always love to see the kids and adults coming in the Library sporting their NASCAR apparel. It’s always fun to see who their favorite driver is. When I see a hat, shirt, or coat sporting a certain driver’s number, sometimes I want to cheer with them, and sometimes I want to jeer at them (always in good race fan spirit, of course.) Let’s face it, if you’re a NASCAR fan, you have the ones you love (I'm a Jr. fan, as in Dale Earnhardt Jr., mostly because I loved watching his daddy race so much), the ones you love to hate (the joke around our house is "the best place for Gordon during a race is in the garage!"), and then there are some you may not like so much but you have to admit they can certainly drive (Kyle Busch, is there any record out there he's not going to break?).
No matter what kind of fan you are MCPL has a book, magazine, or DVD for you. You will find everything from past drivers to current, to stats, and tracks. Come on in and see what we've got and don't forget to wear your favorite apparel when you come!
