Nanowrimo: You’re invited!
October 26, 2010
It's that time of year again. Every November since 1999, writers around the country (and now the world) have dedicated thirty days to "literary abandon." In other words, it's National Novel Writing Month (also known as Nanowrimo).
Personally, this is my third (or maybe fourth or fifth, I'm beginning to lose count) well-intended attempt at finishing the program. As such, I've decided to apply a little peer pressure from the community at large. I'm joining (and hosting) the Lee's Summit library's first session of Nanowrimo write-ins. We'll be writing, sharing, and motivating one another every Monday evening throughout the month of November. Bring your favorite writing utensils; be they laptops, pencils, or iPads. The coffee is on us.
We'll register with the National Nanowrimo website, and write untill all of our ideas have been poured onto the page. Who knows, maybe we'll join the ranks of Sara Gruen? Her best-selling novel Water for Elephants (soon to be a feature film) was a Nanowrimo novel! Join our Nanowrimo Write-Ins Mondays at 6:30. We'll help jump-start your 30 days of caffeine-fueled writing frenzy.
