Mysterious Thoughts on a Thursday
June 25, 2012
In June, Thursday’s Mystery Book Club discussed A Lonely Death by Charles Todd. The majority of the group liked this one.
Ian Rutledge is a former soldier and Scotland Yard inspector sent to find the killer of four war veterans in a Sussex village. Each victim was alone at the time of death. The writing is bleak and devoid of small details. The book and characters all have loneliness about them, including Rutledge who is struggling to come to terms with the war and voice in his head. This is the 13th book in the series. The majority of this series takes place in 1920. The group gives this one a rating of 3.75 magnifying glasses out of 5.
On July 12th, we will be discussing Back of Beyond by C. J. Box. Books for the current month’s selection can be picked up at the Blue Ridge Branch.
