My Library: Liz
June 23, 2010
What are you doing at the library today? I am the Branch Manager of the Oak Grove Library.
How long have you worked at the library? I have been the Branch Manager here for almost seven years and have worked for MCPL for over 12 years.
What is the best part of your job? Interacting and helping others whether it is the public or the staff. Each day brings new challenges.
What is the last good book that you’ve read? Fever Dream by Douglas Preston. It is book ten in the Pendergast series written with Lincoln Child. Fever Dream solves the mystery of FBI agent Aloysius Pendergast’s wife’s murder and brings up questions about the woman he thought he married. I was unsettled with the ending though, there is a side mystery that has been running throughout the other books in the series that needs answers and I am getting impatient.
What are the ways you find out about new books? I receive an email readers advisory newsletter called Bookletters, which I subscribe to through the MCPL website. I also check the Forthcoming Books list on the library website. I just place my holds and wait for the book.
How long have you used the library? I honestly can not remember when I didn’t use the library. Way back when my children were young we attended storytime at the South Independence branch and did the summer reading program. When I was young my friends and I would ride our bikes to the library and spend hours there.
