My Favorite Children's Book This Summer
July 02, 2013
I’m Bored is a delightful children’s book written by Michael Ian Black with illustrations by Debbie Ridpath Ohi that will win over any kid who dislikes reading! It’s the perfect book to check out from your library when your child says they are bored after the first few weeks of summer break.
This book begins by sympathizing with a young girl who is bored. When a potato claims that kids are boring, the little girl sets out to prove that kids are fun. Along the way, she realizes that kids can do waaaaaayyyy more cool and amazing things than potatoes. Thus, the boredom is now nonexistent for the child, and the cycle starts over with the potato being bored.
What really draws the reader into the book is the layout of the story and illustrations. They are paired together in a way that is so visually appealing that readers will have a difficult time finding the book boring to read! I guarantee that both children and adults will love this book! My daughter couldn’t put it down and insisted on reading it to anyone who came to our house!
