Mrs. Queen Takes the Train
April 10, 2013
What could happen if the Queen of England, Elizabeth, decided to leave one afternoon to have a solo adventure?! This charming book addresses that. Her staff goes on a frantic dash to find her while she takes the evening train to one of her favorite spots, Scotland. This book is full of characters that are so British, it almost hurts! They are all bound to protect and serve this "little old lady in a hoodie" as she traverses the country and makes friends.
This is more than a sweet story; it is a story of how the relationships we have can so easily change and morph as life throws us curve balls. Each character is paired with an unlikely accomplice (a new friend, a staunch peer, and a lady in waiting) as they learn about each other and themselves. I loved this book for so many reasons, but I think the main one is that everyone expands under the love and unintentional grace that comes from being around a Queen. If you are in the mood for a sweet read full of lively characters that will delight you and make you laugh again and again, try Mrs. Queen Takes the Train. It is a wonderful afternoon/evening off!
