Mr. Lincoln Goes to Hollywood

November 19, 2012

This weekend, my husband and I went to see Steven Spielberg’s movie Lincoln. Lincoln has always been one of those people who I most admired. In fact, have you ever heard of the game where you could invite five people, living or dead, to a dinner party? Well, Mr. Lincoln has always been the first person on my list.

But, anyway, I can’t tell you how much I liked this movie. Spielberg did an excellent job of recreating what life was like during the end of the Civil War. And while most people nowadays can get very frustrated with our political process, it was extremely interesting to see what our political process was like 150 years ago. The movie was based on the book by Doris Kearns Goodwin, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.

By the way, if you could invite anyone from history to a dinner party, who would it be?
