Mourning Google Reader?
June 26, 2013
Google provides so many great services like email, document storage, money manager, and calendar. Up until now, they also provided an RSS reader service. However, as of July 1st, that service is gone. For those of us who have our blogs that we love to follow and keep up with, the loss of Google Reader will be strongly felt.
Luckily, there is good news. There are other reader services out there! I know there is a long list of what is available, but I have heard of two that are doing quite well at picking up Google’s stranded blog readers. One of these services is Feedly.com. They have been doing huge backups and upgrades to their site to accommodate all of the new users coming from Google.
Another site is Readable.cc. If you notice, this site does not end in “.com” because it is an Australian site. However, the interface is quite simple and easy to use. There are not as many features as Google Reader, but if you don’t need all of the bells and whistles, this is easy to use.
I know many of us are still mourning the loss of Google Reader, but I hope that maybe with these suggestions, you can find another site to fill your Google Reader void.
