The Monster from the Lee's Summit Library
July 22, 2010
Mike Thaler, author of the Black Lagoon series, came by to see us this past week. Lee’s Summit kids got the chance to hear him read and he created some illustrations for us. He even took the time to explain how he comes up with his stories. Did you know that you can make up a whole story with just one word?!
While he was at the library, Mike drew us our very own library monster from audience descriptions. You can find his picture hanging next to the circulation desk in the library, but our monster doesn’t have a name yet. Naming him is our job!
You can come submit your name ideas in the bright blue drop box sitting at our front desk. On August 9th we will unveil the monster’s new name and give him a more permanent home at the library. To quote Mike, “will be worth $1.29 on Ebay if you ever decide to sell it,” but of course, we never would.
