Are you a writer or author? Just a wannabe? Come join us at the Smithville Branch on May 9, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for Hero’s Journey: Building blocks for Writing Adventure.
In this program, you will learn about the monomyth, or "the hero’s journey," that was popularized by Joseph Campbell in 1949. In a monomyth, the hero begins in the ordinary world and receives a call to enter an unknown world of strange powers and events. The hero, who accepts the call to enter this strange world, must face tasks and trials, either alone or with assistance. Nearly every classic story follows this format, though the elements may not always occur in the same order. Come and learn how Star Wars, Harry Potter, and other modern stories that use "the hero’s journey" to create an effective plot.
Please join us to learn more about the 17 stages or steps along this journey. I’m looking forward to reading your next story.
