Monday's Musings on a Mystery
August 15, 2012
For the August meeting, the Monday Mystery Book Club read Electric Barracuda by Tim Dorsey. One member pointed out that Dorsey is a good writer to keep the insanity going as effortlessly as he does; the others all agreed. That being said, the overall stoogish/sophomoric actions kept most from enjoying the book.
It does go over the top at times. Three or four members did enjoy the book. They suspended their disbelief and enjoyed the ride. Serge’s tale is also filled with Florida lore and history. Even those who didn’t care for the book found the Florida tidbits interesting. It did make for an interesting discussion. This book is the 13th book in the Serge Storms series. We have no idea if reading them in order makes any difference. If you’re the type who wants to start at the beginning, Florida Roadkill is book one.
On Sept. 10th, we will be discussing Back of Beyond by C. J. Box. This book is not part of Box’s Joe Pickett series. It is a stand alone. Books for the current month’s selection can be picked up at the Blue Ridge Branch.
