Moby Awards Pick Best, Worst of Book Trailers
April 06, 2012
If you love book trailers, then take a look at the Moby Awards, recognizing the year's best and worst of book trailers.
The Moby Awards are sponsored by Melville House, a Brooklyn, N.Y. based publishing house. The indie publisher got its start with co-founder Dennis Johnson's Poetry After 9/11, which was culled from Johnson's MobyLives book blog. The awards, which hand out statuettes of sperm whales to the winners, both celebrate and poke fun at the whole book trailer concept.
Last year's nominees won in such categories as "Best Big Publishing House Trailer" for Packing for Mars by Mary Roach; "Worst Trailer Soundtrack" for Tonya Hurley's Ghostgirl: Lovesick; and "Most Celebtastic Performance" for James Franco's appearance in the trailer for Gary Shteyhgart's Super Sad True Love Story.
Sign-ups are now being accepted to submit and receive updates for the 2012 nomination process. Check out all the winners of the 2011 and 2010 Moby Awards.
