Missouri Ghost Tales
October 25, 2010
Halloween is this weekend, and it’s time to start stocking up on some scary reads. Ghost Stories of Missouri: True Tales of Ghostly Hauntings by A. S.. Mott contains some haunted tales set in places, such as the old Jackson County Jailhouse, that might be interesting to readers familiar with Missouri. One such story is about a college student who died in a propane tank explosion. She is said to still haunt the dorms at Northwest Missouri State University.
The highlight for me was the sad tale of Nancy Muir. Set shortly after the Civil War, Nancy is forced to live alone in a decrepit mansion as everything close to her dies. Her predicament came about because of a curse placed on her while she was still a child.
This book was a quick read with some interesting (and chilling) stories.
