The Mid-Continent Public Library: Still Cheaper Than Netflix, Blockbuster, RedBox…
July 23, 2010
The Mid-Continent Public Library has an incredibly diverse collection of videos. It’s like a free buffet at a casino with tens of thousands of choices. If you like donuts, we have them. If you want steak, here is a fork. If you want steak and donuts...
Sorry about the whole casino buffet analogy, at the time it felt like the only comparison that would work for a library system that offers both Criterion Collection films and Mason Dixon Gobblers.
Anyway, it’s not just about the quantity of choices at our casino buffet. Here are links to clips and trailers for AFI’s Top Ten film. If you want to put a movie on hold, click the title.
10. The Wizard of Oz (1939)
9. Vertigo (1958)
8. Schindler’s List (1993)
7. Lawrence of Arabia(1962)
6. Gone With the Wind(1939)
5. Singin’ In The Rain (1952)
4. Raging Bull (1980)
3. Casablanca (1942)
2. The Godfather (1972)
1. Citizen Kane(1941)
Note: The list is from 2007 so there’s a few glaring omissions, namely Beverly Hills Chihuahua and the original Tron.
Further note: If you run over a video with a sedan or dip it into salsa the “Cheaper than” statement is void.
