Mid-Continent Public Library Delivers For You
November 26, 2010
When you put in a request for the latest bestseller by your favorite author or a car repair book from Chilton's, the library's truck drivers are the ones who deliver for you. We borrow books, videos, cassettes, CDs, and more from 29 other libraries in three counties. But it doesn't just stop at our district borders.
Every day, the drivers sort those requested materials and deliver them to customers across the Kansas City metro area. In the last fiscal year, over 2,200,000 items were handled to fill requests. Over 74,000 of those were from library systems outside of Mid-Continent who loan us materials requested on the database, WorldCat. As a customer, you have access to millions of items Mid-Continent does not own by requesting them through Worldcat. We borrow items from all over the United States, and also share our materials with those other libraries.
Are you not familiar with our library-loan services and Worldcat? Drop by or give us a call, and we will be happy to help you place a request for that item you have always wanted to look at. We can put you in touch with libraries just down the road or also across the country.
