In Memory: Bill Tresenriter 1955-2011
October 12, 2011
It is with incomprehensible sadness that we say goodbye to one of the Midwest Genealogy Center's favorite staff members. Bill Tresenriter passed away on October 11, 2011. Bill was constantly ready with a witty remark and a smile. He was always willing to help both staff and patrons with whatever they needed. If you needed an ear to listen, Bill was there. He could lighten a mood seemingly without even trying. He was a devoted employee, ever ready to do what he could to make everyone laugh. He took care of everyone who would let him, always bringing in food to share, buying gifts, or donating money for various causes. He was retired from the Kansas City Police Department Crime Lab, worked for the Sons of the Revolution, and had recently been promoted to full time at MGC.
Rest in Peace, Bill. You will be missed more than you could have ever known.

Wow, what a shocker. So Sorry to hear of his passing.
as an avid genealogist for the past 13 years, I had Bill help me allot especially in the early days at the old location. He will be missed.

What a shock to hear of Bill's death! During the years I worked alongside Bill at the "old" Genealogy Branch, he was always a pleasure to be around. He seemed to almost always be in a good mood, always had an interesting story to tell about something, and frequently filled the place with laughter. My condolences and prayers go to all his friends, family and co-workers.

What a shock to read of Bill's passing. We've enjoyed the benefits of Bill's expertise and his sunny smile for many years. He would give advice or show us how to do something, and then he would come back around to check on how we were doing. Once he even went so far as to locate a photograph of one of my family members, using his personal resources. What a surprise when he brought us the photograph at the library! It was always fun to see his smiling face. We will miss him.

Sadness
We only knew Bill for a year, but is with great sadness we hear of his passing. He had a wonderful, positive attitude that permeated anywhere he was present. (2 users of the wonderful facility at the Genealogy facilities)

Bill helped me find records many times over the years. He was so helpful and generous with knowledge and time. He will be sorely missed by future genealogists in training

You made me laugh. Once you made me cry, because you told me something that touched my heart and you were so surprised that I would feel it so deeply. That night you brought me a huge pile of chocolate and just said ...eat all of it! No explanation, none needed. I will miss you. No explanation needed.

It is so hard to imagine this library without Bill. He was the lifeblood of the staff. His ever-ready laugh cheered us all. He could be sympathetic to your problems and would try to figure out what he could do to help. He was a Royals fan extraordinaire and I am a died-in-the-wool Cardinals fan. We had lots of fun teasing each other about our teams. When the teams played each other, we had all sorts of "bets" with each other, usually involving food.
Many nights he would bring "dinner" for the night staff- he knew everyone's favorite food and would make sure he would bring it on the night that person was working! He kept a stash of goodies in the break room and was well known for having chocolate and bringing it for all the women on bad days!
I can picture him coming in on his day off with a big smile. He just wanted to see what was going on. No one worked harder than Bill! He would follow up any question until he found the answer! He was determined than no one would leave MGC without an answer to their question.
Bless you Bill. MGC will never be the same! Suzanne V.

I worked with Bill all through my high school and college summers he was such a great and caring coworker always feeding the hungry pages and making us smile when life got a little boring. The library won't be the same without him there. Jessica M.
We will miss you
I cannot even begin to express the sadness I feel losing Bill. He was a dear friend and it will not be the same being at the library without him. As Cindi mentioned, you always knew when he was there and Bill had the biggest heart that someone could have. You will be missed Bill.

I am sure that Bill will be
I am sure that Bill will be greatly missed. I always had so much fun working with Bill. There was never a day that went by that Bill wasn't making us laugh. He always had some crazy story he was telling. I have nothing but fond memories of him and will miss seeing him up at the library.

We always knew when Bill was in the library. We could hear him from wherever we were. He'd say something and then always follow it by his laugh. He talked to everyone. So, if we heard that laugh we'd know that Bill was in the house. I will miss that laugh every day.

This is so sad. I come to the genealogy library often and have for many many years. He was so helpful and friendly and ready to lend a hand or answer questions. You could tell he enjoyed his job. It won't be the same not seeing his familiar face at the library.
