Me on My Bike
June 14, 2012
One way of working out that I truly enjoy is riding my bike. Cycling is one of the easiest ways to exercise, and I don’t think of it as exercise. I don’t intend to be a marathon cyclist. I just ride for fun. You can ride a bike almost anywhere without spending a fortune. Once you have learned to ride a bike, you don’t forget.
Cycling is good for mental and physical health. Cycling brings many benefits: tones muscles, keeps joints healthy, helps with the cardiovascular system, improves lung capacity, and helps losing the extra pounds, just to name a few.
Cycling outdoors, for me, is a very joyful experience. Sure, you may sweat and sometimes get sore from pedaling, but there is nothing as wonderful as riding on a country road. I love coasting through nature where silence and peacefulness embraces you.
Since the weather has been so nice, I’ve been out riding on bike trails. I have also encouraged my family to go riding, and they have enjoyed it. I’ve checked out a book called the Complete Katy Trail Guidebook by Brett Dufur. It’s an excellent source of information on Missouri bike trails. In addition to the Katy Trail, another scenic that is mentioned in this book is in Hermann, Missouri. Riding my bike on the rolling hills of the wine country in Hermann would be a unique experience. I’ll add it to my bucket list.
