Marco at the Louvre
July 15, 2011
Still in Paris, but this time I was inside the Louvre. It is an incredibly large building, and I was afraid I’d get lost because I couldn’t read the map. This building used to be a fortress and then a palace before becoming the most visited art gallery in the world. I understand why. Famous paintings and sculptures are everywhere. There is even a Starbuck’s by the small glass pyramid.
We visited the Mona Lisa, and I confess I was a little terrified. Hundreds of people were crowding to see the small painting. Cameras were clicking. I lost my balance and fell on the floor. I was trampled by at least twelve people before my friend Vicki rescued me and flattened me back out. I think next time, I’ll visit one of the more quiet galleries. I need a glass of wine and a quiet rest on a bench in the Tuileries Garden!
