Marco In Florence
August 05, 2011
Our second day in Italy takes us to Florence or Firenze, as the Italians call it. It’s beautiful, and art work is everywhere. Statues are throughout the city, and the most popular is one called David. I think he needs to be wearing a bookmark! We walked across the Ponte Vecchio, which has jewelry shops on the bridge. Other shops are selling leather items, so I’m looking for another pretty bookmark. Lunch was fantastic; it was a real Italian pizza with a salad at an outdoor restaurant. I also learned that there are many famous Tuscans, including DaVinci, Michelangelo, Dante, Amerigo Vespucci, and Macchiavelli. I will need to research their stories more when I get home.
Next, we visit Rome. Where’s my toga?

These posts have been really fun to read. Having been to Italy once before, these are bringing back lots of good memories. I can't wait for more and I hope the journey doesn't end too soon.
