March in Kansas City
March 07, 2012
The first week of March is an exciting time for Kansas City, especially if you are in or around the downtown area. Two big events are taking place, or at least I think they are exciting.
The first, of course, is the Big 12 tournament at the Sprint Center. With both MU and KU having winning seasons, and this being the final year Missouri is in the Big 12, the excitement and energy both promise to be at extra high levels. In addition, you can guarantee, everywhere from the Power & Light district to Westport and the Country Club Plaza, will be packed with fans from all over the country.
The other big event downtown this week is the Kansas City Auto Show. This is an event I look forward to each year. Now a lot of people probably find it hard to believe that a self-proclaimed car nut would work at a library, but I think most, if not all the staff at the Raytown Branch, would agree that I definitely fit that category. The Auto Show is a great way to see all that’s new and updated in the automotive world. A few of the manufactures will even let you take short test drives, which I plan to do, if time allows.
If by chance you can’t make it to the Auto Show, or as hard as it is for me to imagine, you are not interested in going but find yourself in the market for a new vehicle, MCPL has a wealth of information available to you. If you visit one of our Branches in person, several still have the paper copies of N.A.D.A Official Used Car Guide, as well as Consumer Reports to help you research the vehicle that is right for you. In addition, our website has a wealth of online resources as well as links to such respected sites such as Edmunds New Cars &Trucks & Kelley Blue Book.
