Louisiana (Swamp People) and Cajun Food
May 24, 2012
Louisiana: Where the Swamps are! Swamp People is a show on the History Channel on Thursday nights, and it is a hoot! Watching them wrestle with alligators in the Louisiana Bayou is really interesting. I like Troy the best. He talks at the beginning of the show about the sounds in the swamps: He says, "Some sounds you want to hear, and some sounds you don't want to hear." I always like to hear him say, "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" in his Louisiana accent. MCPL has Swamp People season one and Swamp People season two, so check them out and you might get hooked too.
Speaking of Louisiana, it is also known for Cajun Food...I have never eaten Cajun Food, but someday I guess I should try. I was in Texas last year and we were at a Cajun restaurant where I was tricked into thinking that I ate alligator. I ordered a chicken salad, and after eating it, I was told I had eaten alligator (even the waitress was in on it). I thought for days that I had eaten alligator, thinking that it tastes like chicken! HA! But days later, I found out, it was a joke. Oh well.
MCPL has books on Cajun cooking if you ever want to do some cooking.
- Good Time Eatin' in Cajun Country: Cajun Vegetarian Cooking by Donna Simon

Happy watching and Happy eating!
