Looking for a Good Book?

While working at the circulation desk, I am frequently asked by customers for a "good book." We do have several resources available to help in this search. My favorite is the "author read-alike" featured of NovelList Plus. This feature of the database will give suggestions of writers to try based on my current favorite authors.

I often receive recommendations of favorite books from our MCPL customers. Just recently, I received a recommendation of Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith. It is a murder mystery set in the Stalinist era Soviet Union. While this is a period of history that one I am not very familiar with, my customer assured me that I would enjoy the book, and I did.

Unfortunately, I can’t remember who recommended this book to me! So, I would like to say thank you to whoever suggested this book to me.
