Local Romance Authors
April 12, 2013
This year, from May 1-5, Kansas City will be hosting the Romantic Times Convention at the Sheraton Hotel. This is a time for people to interact with some of their favorite authors. I love that some of the new authors and more established authors live right here in Kansas City. Some of our popular local authors include Julie Garwood, Carla Cassidy, and Shannon Butcher. (Shannon Butcher is also married to the popular fantasy author Jim Butcher). Some of the new and upcoming authors are Claire Ashgrove, Heather Snow, and Saranna DeWylde.
Julie Garwood, Carla Cassidy, and Shannon Butcher are established romance authors. The books that I most enjoyed by Julie Garwood are The Bride and The Wedding. Carla Cassidy is a well-known author who writes for Harlequin. The series that I enjoyed the most was the Scene of the Crime. Finally, Shannon Butcher has written romantic suspense and fantasy. I enjoyed Falling Blind and Dying Wish.
I went to a book signing and met authors Claire Ashgrove, Heather Snow, and Saranna DeWylde. These three upcoming local authors have books that are very different from anything I have read. Claire Ashgrove is writing a series about the Knights Templar called The Curse of the Templars. Her books are about how the Templar must live forever, protecting mankind from evil until they find their true loves. Heather Snow wrote a series based in Napoleonic Europe. The women in her books are detectives and solve mysteries using their different abilities.
Finally, Saranna DeWylde is a paranormal romance writer. She has a series of books based on warlocks, demons, and angels and how they can be charmed in 10 days. If you are interested in any of these authors or books, you can search by series title or by author in our catalog.
