Lively Library Discussion with Director Steven Potter

March 30, 2012

Have you ever wondered about the new eBooks that have come on the scene since 2011, like where do we get them? What’s up with the publishers not really selling eBooks to libraries? Or, how big of an influence do you think eBooks have and will continue to have on print books?

Where are libraries headed? Will they be completely self-check, completely online, or will there still be that helpful, happy librarian eager to assist you in your quest to find the information and books you want? Maybe, you would like to just share some of the great books you’ve read from MCPL.

Here’s your chance Parkville. On April 12 at 7:00 p.m., MCPL Director Steven V. Potter will visit the Parkville Branch to discuss these topics and more. You can talk about the library system, the future of libraries, or even your favorite books.

I know I want to ask him how eBooks and the publishers’ refusal to sell titles to libraries, or if they do sell them only at very high prices, affects us as a library system and what opportunities we have as a community to persuade these companies of the benefits of library eBooks.

I hope you’ll join us at Parkville for a lively library discussion!
