Little Women at Local Community Theatre

December 19, 2012

I went to a local community theatre production of Little Women recently. It was great to see it in another format since I had never seen it as a play. The Independence Community Theatre did a wonderful job.

It was interesting how they changed the scenes by using a different part of the stage set up as the Marsh home and very few additional props. And I was amazed how they combined some of the chapters of the book by just mentioning  them and not needing to act all of them out. I was wondering how they would get all that book into a two hour play, but they did it very successfully.

I have seen the movie version of Little Women several times with different actresses. I especially liked the one with Katherine Hepburn as Jo. And I have read the book a few times along with everything else that Louisa May Alcott wrote.

MCPL has several copies of the book Little Women and several versions of the movie, too. This book is also on CD and in an Electronic Resource that can be viewed on your computer. So if you are a Louisa May Alcott fan and need to read or see it again, just check it out from your local MCPL branch.
