Little Bee - A Must Read

Little Bee by Chris Cleave is a story about a young Nigerian refugee and an English woman whose lives collide one fateful day. There is a horrible choice that one of these women has to make, which left me asking myself, "Could I have done the same thing?" The two characters are very different and come from different backgrounds, but they have a special relationship and learn to respect and appreciate each other.

The story is about the terrible things people do to each other, along with the good that some do when faced with extreme situations. The book was actually very sad, but yet an extremely moving and inspiring read. This shocking and heartbreaking novel makes you think about your own choices in life and leaves you questioning your own beliefs.

If your book club is looking for a well written and thought provoking novel, I would highly recommend Little Bee. I think this would be an excellent choice, as there is a lot of material to think about that would make for a great discussion. It is truly a very intense and well written book with an unforgettable heroine.
