A few days ago, I was in Facebook talking with a friend from the UK. She had a friend in Canada who'd commented that she'd seen my profile page and couldn't believe how much we had in common. She started calling us library sisters because: (1) We are the same age (62); (2) We are both pages at our respective libraries; (3) We both love being pages and prefer to stay in that position, and (4) We've both been pages for 11 years.
Several months ago, MCPL provided its employees with t-shirts with the MCPL logo. I was wearing mine one day and went shopping after my shift. While at a health store quite a distance from my home, another customer mentioned that she liked my t-shirt. Forgetting what I was wearing that day, I checked and then noticed that she was also wearing a MCPL t-shirt. We exchanged names and visited for a little while.
Then today when I came to work, I noticed there was an employee from HQ helping out. We visited for a while, and then I figured it couldn't hurt to ask if she was the lady I'd talked to at the health store months ago. Sure enough, it was her!
Guess the old cliché is true: It is a small world.
