Library Girl Living in a Country World
January 24, 2011
After working in a library for five years and interning for two years, I decided that I wanted to branch out and try something new. So, I got an internship with the country radio station KBEQ-104.3. Everyone says I am crazy to continue working in two completely different worlds, but at the same time, both are tons of fun.
Even though I have to be there at 6:30 a.m. because I intern for "The Morning Drive", I still love doing it. It is so much fun to go into the studio, answer phones, and listen to the DJs talk about the "hot topics" of the day. I get to chat with superstars such as Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood, and meet celebrities like Danny Gokey, Luke Bryan, Dave Coulier, and Topher Grace.
When I first started at the radio station, I received class credit and thought as soon as I was done with it that I would be through with the internship, but yet I am still there. I must admit, when I first began, my thought was, these people are going to be nothing like working with the people at the library. After a month or so, I got to know everyone really well, and have made some good friends because of this internship. I learned that I had a lot in common with them.
Being in these two different worlds has been awesome, and it has been great life experience.
