Can you have a library addiction and not even know it? Yes, you can. The most frequent addition is Series Reading. Once you start you can’t quit. You can’t wait until the next book in the series comes out. You are even tempted to go out and buy it but, use that willpower and wait until your turn comes up on the hold list and you receive your library copy. The rewards will be beneficial, you will have saved money, will not have to store a copy on your ever filling bookshelf, and most of all you will be supporting your local library system.
What are some of these addicting series to be on the lookout for: Janet Evanovich-Stephanie Plum, James Patterson-Alex Cross and Women’s Murder Club, and Catherine Coulter-FBI Thriller series. Even our young ones are not immune. Our teens have the temptation of O. R. Melling-Chronicles of Faerie, James Patterson-Daniel X, and Cecily Von Ziegesar-Gossip Girl series. The juvenile readers are faced with Mary Pope Osborne-Magic Tree House series, The 39 Clues series and a most popular series, Percy Jackson & The Olympians-Rick Riordan.
There is no known cure, but moderation will help. Limit yourself to 1 or 2 series at a time. If you heed these tips, your addiction to Series Reading can be controlled and even be beneficial to your mental health. Please remember, if you need to feed your Series Reading addiction, go to your local library for a fix.
