Learning @ the Library = Awesome!
June 15, 2013
Last week was my first time helping with one of our educational library programs. I discovered all about the different kinds of rocks, which was awesome. This week, I discovered that, while I love shooting rubber bands, shooting Popsicle stick trebuchets are even cooler! What’s more, everyone got to make one and take it home with them!
This was just a part of everything we learned about construction today. Then, we made Lego houses and constructed our own snacks by measuring with a ruler. But the most popular table was covered in dry spaghetti and marshmallows. Even the adults got in on the action. There, we made our very own skyscrapers! (And snuck a marshmallow or two….) Everyone had a blast while learning cool stuff, myself included.
I can’t wait for next week when we learn all about underground animals. We will learn all about worms and golden moles, just to name a few. But the one I am most excited about? Pikas. Appearing to be a combination between a mouse and a rabbit, I think they are super-cute! And I’ve heard that they burrow underground and help the environment.
Need to know more? And do another super fun activity? Come by the Boardwalk Branch next Wednesday @ 2:30 p.m. It’s going to be awesome! See you there!
