Kids Playing in Paint
April 12, 2012
Overheard at storytime: "Hey, kids, would you like to paint today?" (cheers heard from kids and slight moans heard from adults)
There's a way to paint without really painting. Here is the secret: Use a good quality quart size zip lock bag and pour a few squirts of tempera inside. Flatten the bag out, zip it shut, and tape it all the way around with good strong tape on a piece of cardstock paper. Now kids can "paint" with their fingers but not actually touch it. It's fun, it's clean, and it's safe! Just keep sharp fingernails away from the bag and consider using freezer bags.
Great books to check out from the library include: I Aint Gonna Paint No More! by Karen Beaumont and Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh.
Now let's paint!
